Scope and Contents
Original title reads, "The African Timber & Plywood Limited at Sapele has 2,000 employes at the mill and 1,500 working in the forests. African Timber & Plywood Limited fells timber within about a 300-mile radius around Sapele, bringing the logs as much of the way as possible by water." [Elisofon field notes, August 1959-December 1959]
This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from August 18, 1959 to December 20, 1959.
