Scope and Contents
The physical structure and morphology of Yoruba cities represent a convergence of two traditions of urbanism -a non-mechanistic, pre-industrial African tradition more akin to the mediaeval urbanism in Europe, and a technologically-orientated European tradition. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon traveled to Africa from March 17, 1970 to July 17, 1970.
