Scope and Contents
The Iringa - Dodoma road forms a part of the Great North Corridor running from Iringa to Arusha via Dodoma and Manyara regions. The road traverses through the Nyang'oro escarpment (15 km) and Mtera Dam (Iringa/Dodoma border). This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
