Scope and Contents
"Stretching along the Upper White Nile River, for roughly 250 miles, is a vast papyrus swamp called the Sudd which occupies an area of possibly 50,000 square miles." This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
