Scope and Contents

"Qurna is located in northern Egypt on west bank of the Nile River across from Luxor, on part of historic Thebes; includes Temple of Qurna built by Seti I in 1300 BC finished by Ramses II; starting point for road leading to Tombs of the Kings, Tombs of Queens & Monkeys nearby." [The J. P. Getty Fund: Thesaurus of Geographical Names]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was working on "The Nile" project and traveled to Africa from March 14, 1961 to March 31, 1961, visiting Egypt.
