"In the time of Domitian, a gate was built in the north wall of the temple of Dendera. The huge, 10.10m high gate was closed by means of a single door." [Arnold D., 1999: Temples of the Last Pharaohs. Oxford University Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
