Scope and Contents
"At a later experimental school conducted by Suzanne Wenger for the Oshogbo Mbari Club, students were introduced to cement sculture. One result was the emergence of Adebisi Akanji and Buraimoh Gbadamosi, who had been doing some stone carving." [Tayo Adenaike, 1995: The Oshogbo Experiment; Seven Stories about Modern Art in Africa. Flammarion]. The photograph depicts a cement screen created in mid-1960s by Adebisi Akinji. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.
