Scope and Contents

"Central market is the largest market and is located at the centre of the city. Goods sold there include local and foreign luxury goods, local food items and imported goods. The market is also the centre of second-hand clothing in Ghana. Its nearness to Kejeta, the central lorry park, makes it easily accessible from all part of the city as well as the country." During his trip to Ghana, Elisofon visited Cape coast, Accra, Besease, the Kumasi area, and Elmina. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon traveled to Africa from March 17, 1970 to July 17, 1970.
