Scope and Contents
During his trip to Egypt, Elisofon visited Tanta, in the Nile Delta region. "A typically busy street in the town of Tanta. Though automobiles are increasingly popular, they have not replaced horse-drawn carriages like the one in the center of the photograph." [Eliot Elisofon, Laurens Van Der Post, 1964: The Nile, The Viking Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from August 18, 1959 to December 20, 1959.
