Scope and Contents
The Muchinga mountains are part of the Irumide fold belt which extends over a width of about 120 km along the line of the Great North Road between Kapiri Mposhi and the Zambia-Tanzania border. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
