"On market day in Dogon villages, conversation and commerce occupy the women's time. The women load the goods they want to sell into straw baskets -vegetables, roasted peanuts, pottery, millet beer, and maybe a calabash filled with peanut and millet paste balls. Hoisting the baskets on their heads, they leave for the markets long before the men are ready.
