Scope and Contents
Original title reads, "Soldiers of Nigerian army on a training exercise at Victoria Beach outside of Lagos. They are carrying out a maneuver in which it is assumed that unfriendly persons have landed on the beach. The third battalion, which supplies the men seen in these pictures, is the oldest battalion of the Nigeria regiment." [Elisofon field notes, August 1959-December 1959]
This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from August 18, 1959 to December 20, 1959.
