Scope and Contents

The photograph depicts child and women, among them members of the royal family, dancing at the court of Nyim Kot a-Mbweeky III. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.

Typed index card reads, "F 3 Kba. Kuba. Zaire, Mushenge. Child dancing at royal court. Many of te dancers are related to the Nyim and wear the red cloth of the royal court. 11/1970. EE. neg.no. VI-17, 7." The card was written in 1977-79 by Archives staff using source provided by photographer.
