Scope and Contents
"A young Berber girl at Kokki, a village near the Second Cataract. She is wearing the black cotton costume customary among the women of Upper Nubia and is adorned with a silver necklace and leather amulets around her neck; the silver ring in her nose is called a nibla." [Elisofon E., Van Der Post L, 1964: The Nile, The Viking Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
