Scope and Contents
"A holiday crowd filling one of the narrow streets of Abu Tig, a small village on the Nile south of Asyut, about midway between Aswan and cairo. Abu Tig is typical of the many towns lining the river in so-called 'Middle Egypt'." [Eliot elisofon, Laurens Van Der Post, 1967: The Nile, Viking Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Life magazine and traveled to Africa from January 8, 1947 to end of June 1947.
