Original title reads, "Special fetish dance meant to frighten other people fighting them. These sticks are shoved thru one cheek but after dance no wound or scar can be seen, no explanation for this." [Elisofon field notes, March 1970-July 1970]
This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for Westinghouse Film and traveled to Africa from October 26, 1970 to end of March 1971.
