Scope and Contents
"Oxen and occasionally donkeys or camels are used for traction, working the land for sowing, trampling out the harvest for thrashing, and transportation." [Vogel J., 1997: Encyclopedia of Precolonial Africa, Altamira Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Institute of Architects, directing the Egyptian portion of the documentary on Ancient Egypt, March 1965 and September 1965.
