Scope and Contents
Saddle-billed storks are among the largest of the storks. Their large, and very pointed bills are well designed for jabbing at fish in shallow waters. Their black and white plumage is a striking contrast to the bright red bill. Saddle-bills are unique among storks in that the male and female differ in eye color. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Broadcasting Company and traveled to Africa from June 1966 to early August 1966.
