Scope and Contents
The Marabou storks (Leptoptilos crumeniferus) frequent both aquatic and terrestrial habitats. They feed on any available animal matter, dead or alive, as well as eating refuse and fish waste. The Marabou is a common scavanger in East Africa. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignement for National Geographic Film and traveled to Africa from January 19, 1972 to mid April 1972.
