Scope and Contents
"The Coptic Museum, built in 1938, is housed in a picturesque modern building, surrounding several courts, to which great character is given by the beautiful old meshrabiya (mashrabiyya) windows and ceilings." [Russell D., 1963: Medieval Cairo and the Monasteries of the Wādi Natrūn. Weidenfeld and Nicolson]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was working on "The Nile" project and traveled to Africa from March 14, 1961 to March 31, 1961, visiting Egypt.
