General

CDR copy--FW-ASCH-7RR-2291 contains a Read-In for Peace in Vietnam, recorded at Town Hall, New York City. Various poets and a few prominent actors read a variety of selections, both prose and poetry often written by the the reader, relating directly or indirectly to the effort to end the war. The Read-In was produced by the Committee of the Professions. Stanley Kauffman was the "Chairman" of the event. This recording is very similar to FW-ASCH-7RR-2288; some tracks are identical and some are different, for unknown reasons. A commercial Broadsides recording was produced from -2288, entitled "The Original Read-In for Peace in Vietnam (BR 452), which as now available from Smithsonian Folkways (FW09752). See the other sheets for a list of tracks and their durations.
