General

CDR copy. FW-ASCH-7RR-0830 primarily contains popular songs from the turn of the 20th Century (and perhaps a decade or two in both directions), sung by an unidentified seemingly middle-aged woman accompanying herself on piano. While singer and date of recording aren't provided, the tape box says, "For the family of Sara Morris Gelber." (The tape box also says, "Then you'll remember me" and "Remembrances.") The singer introduces the recording by saying, "In a frankly sentimental mood, I give you these songs, sung to us and with us by my mother, beginning with the earliest ones I can remember." The only songs I can identify as folk songs are "Who Killed Cock Robin" and Come, Come , I Love You Only, which I think is a translation of of German folk song. For many of the songs, only the chorus is sung.
