Scope and Contents

Exhibition catalog for Donald Cox: A Washington Artist, held at the Sumner School Museum and Archives. Includes a brief biography of the artist and an overview of the exhibition, as well as a catalog of works exhibited. Most of the exhibited pieces portray Washington, DC churches, and were completed in 1979, but a mural of James Baldwin from 1976 was also included. Churches depicted in the exhibit include: Corinthian Baptist Church; Shilo Baptist Church; Salem Baptist Church; 2nd Baptist Church; 3rd Baptist Church; Metropolitan AME [African Methodist Episcopal]; New Foundation Baptist Church; Mount Zion Baptist Church; Mount Carmel Baptist Church; Lincoln Temple Baptist Church; Hemingway Temple AME Church.
