Scope and Contents

Yvonne Moore talked about living in Marbury Plaza (an apartment building), and the people who lived there; her work as advisory neighborhood commissioner (ANC) East of the River and with other organizations/associations; community concerns, particularly speed bumps, traffic, and the proposed development in Skyland; the Skyland development - a 20 year issue with continual studies and plans, and no results; thoughts on proposed plan for Anacostia Park (Poplar Point Development); the stigma of southeast Washington, D.C., specifically East of the River communities; and her future vision for her community and East of the River communities, including the opening of the library and recreation for children. Moore lives in the Fairlawn community/neighborhood of Anacostia, and described the community activism in Fairlawn by the community as a whole.
