Karen Lee Williams - President of the Hillcrest Community Civic Association - talked about growing up and living in southeast Washington, D.C.; why she moved to the Hillcrest Community and why/when/how she became actively involved in the Hillcrest Community Civic Association; her concerns about the D.C. public school system, particularly lack of support for teachers; Hillcrest Community Civic Association's concerns as well as the broader community's concerns about their community and proposed development, particularly traffic flow, lack of grocery stores, Skyland town center versus shopping center; and her future vision for herself, her family, and her community.
