Scope and Contents
Pastor Franklin Senger, of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Comforter, spoke about the work of Southeast Neighbors (now known as Hillcrest Community Civic Association), which endeavored to promote a harmonious, integrated neighborhood; the creation of the Hillcrest Recreation Center; and working with the mayor and bishop in Washington, D.C. He also described the community when he arrived in southeast Washington, D.C. in 1959; the civic action of and change to the community; and his future vision for the Hillcrest community.
