Scope and Contents
Community organizer Eugene Harris talked about his involvement with Southeast Neighborhood House in the late 1960s; and his relationship with and the development of the Park Chester Apartments Coop. In addition to housing, he talked about the welfare inspectors; creating their own school system in Anacostia; other community organizers in southeast Washington, D.C.; community revitalization by people from outside of the community; and Marion Barry and Anthony Williams regarding the hiring and then firing of people with criminal records. Harris also explained his future vision for Anacostia.
