General

M. W. A. were the initials of the Modern Woodmen of America, a fraternal benefit society. From 1909 to 1947 the organization operated a sanitorium for tuberculosis patients on 1,000 acres nine miles northwest of Colorado Springs. The building shown on this card, whose verso is a dues receipt, was also called the Administration Building. Additional images of the facility from the collection of the Pikes Peak Library District can be found at https://digitalcollections.ppld.org/nodes/view/88077.
