General

For this project dating to about 1960 Lois Poinier began by reshaping a hillside and constructing two stone retaining walls. The lower of these walls defined a flagstone patio and also provided the structure for a wall fountain and pool. Between the walls abundant azaleas and other plantings provided a burst of springtime color. Stone stairs provided access to the upper portion of the garden with its lawn leading to surrounding woodlands. Images include before and after shots as well as some taken several years after completion of the project.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer, ca. 1960) and Juliette Rogers Kreitler and Carl J. Kreitler (former owners).
