General
For this project on Fernwood Road Lois W. Poinier took a rather ordinary, flat backyard bisected by a hedge and created a two-level garden featuring several varieties of trees and flowering shrubs as well as a lawn. An existing birch tree was retained in the design, which also included a flagstone patio with a small pool outlined by stones and a raised stone edge and stairs to the upper level. Mature rhododendrons and trees at the back of the property provided privacy as well as definition of the upper level of this two-tiered garden.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Dr. Herbert W. Diefendorf and Esther Johnson Diefendorf (former owners).
