General

The garden design for this new home incorporated water views as well as several distinctive features such as a swimming pool and rose garden. A stone wall defined the terrace on the water-side of the house, while the land-side approach via the driveway incorporated mature trees as well as native and non-native plantings of shrubs, grasses, and other vegetation. Images from a variety of seasons show garden design and construction as well as the completed work.
Persons associated with the garden include Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Henry Hamilton Hoyt and Anna Orcutt Hoyt (former owners). Lois W. Poinier also designed a garden for the Hoyts at their Short Hills, New Jersey, home (see NJ382).
