General

Although the client wanted a sitting area and rose garden near the house, a large black walnut tree made this impossible. Designer Lois W. Poinier effected a compromise by placing a terrace farther out in the yard and backing it with a dry stone wall in front of which roses could be grown. Two 4-inch stone steps descended from the lawn area near the house to the terrace.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and the Stanley family.
