General
Located in the now gated community of Llewellyn Park, West Orange, this New Jersey property was originally built around 1930. The garden was landscaped in the 1960s and featured a flagstone patio with a tree growing from one side and a small lawn edged with planting beds of tulips in the spring. The patio and lawn were enclosed by the house on two sides and a low brick wall on a third. Ivy grew on the walls of the house.
Persons associated with the garden include: Dorothy Wehrhane Lord (former owner, 1928-1956), Alvin R. and Eleanor Jennings (former owner, 1956-1965), John McIntyre (former owner, 1966-1970), D.F. Houlihan (former owner, 1970-1979), and Lois W. Poinier (garden designer).
