This garden on Stewart Road in Short Hills was one of two designed by Lois Poinier for Mary Elizabeth Halbach Kemmerer and John L. Kemmerer, Jr. (the second was NJ352). Mrs. Kemmerer was the daughter of Ernest K. Halbach, who in 1948 had married Poinier's mother, Helen Page Wodell. The slides document construction and landscaping at the site, including a new driveway, terraces at the back of the house adjacent to the living room and breakfast room, and a dry stream bed.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer, 1950s-1960s); and Mary Elizabeth Halbach Kemmerer and John L. Kemmerer, Jr. (former owners, ca. 1967-1976).
