General

This garden, a joint project of Helen Page Wodell and her daughter Lois W. Poinier, was the latter's first foray into garden design. Dating to the 1940s, it consisted of three shallow grass terraces framed by borders of roses and perennials as well as surrounding trees. Images show the garden area prior to its design, during construction, and following completion. The property, "Ridgewood," appears to no longer exist and likely fell victim to sale and subdivision.
Persons associated with the garden include: Helen Page Wodell (garden designer, ca. 1940s), Lois W. Poinier (garden designer, ca. 1940s) and William Larimer Jones, Jr. (1891-1954) and Augusta Day Hall Jones (d. 1964) (former owners).
