General
For the country house "Farmlands" overlooking Otsego Lake Helen Page Wodell created a sunken garden in what had formerly been a flat field. Low stone walls surrounded a lawn area with garden borders both inside and outside the walls. On the house side a single stone step led up to a stone terrace patio providing an area for outdoor living that took provided views of the lake and the sunken garden. Before and after images show the progression of the site from undeveloped field through construction and installation to a mature garden. Additional images are of the house and driveway, the latter showing three vintage vehicles.
Persona associated with the garden include: Helen Page Wodell (garden designer, circa 1940s) and Webster Tilton, Sr., and Alice Busch Tilton (former owners).
