General
For this site adjacent to woodlands Lois W. Poinier designed a stone stairway leading down from a porch to a grassy area. At the foot of the stairs a stone wall featured a fountain and fish pond accented by a sculpture of a cherub. A flagstone patio by the lawn was separated from it by a low stone wall. Surrounding the lawn was a garden border featuring azaleas, a dogwood, and other shrubs, providing a boundary between the house and the trees beyond. The property was probably located on Sherman Avenue.
Persons associated with the garden include: Lois W. Poinier (garden designer) and Harriet Herter (probable former owner). Although Poinier's records refer to a "Dr." Herter and wife as the project clients, his name has not been determined.
