General
See lecture booklet - Slide # 18. Once one has pentrated into the interior of the palace grounds, the fascination of the many courtyards and loggias is complete. This is the famous "Court of the Lions", considered the most perfect example of Moorish architecture. Note the twelve stone lions supporting the alabaster basin and the four open runnels which carry water to and from the fountain. The slender alabaster columns give a light, airy look to the lovely pavillions. The six orange trees are placed as they were in the days of Isabella and Phillip.
