General
The Upson-Howard place was laid out in the 1820's and has a decidely New England atmosphere, for Stephen Upson came from Connecticut. The five and a half acres are enclosed by a four foot stone wall of semi-dressed stone blocks, laid without morter. A stone wall of this type is very unusual in Georgia.
Mount reads: "Edward Van Altena."
Historic plate number: "68."
Historic plate caption: "Georgia, Stone wall, [illeg]."
