General
Stone pylons with the Maryland and District of Columbia seals were placed by the Garden Club of America at or near various boundary lines between the two in 1932 and 1933. Remaining pylons, including those at Westmoreland Circle and Friendship Heights, were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is not known, however, which of these, or another, is shown in this image. Additional markers have disappeared over the years.
