General
A notation on the slide mount--"Mrs. Clater Smith"--seems to indicates the owner of this garden. However, two possibilities exist for the identity of this garden's owners and its location. Clater Webb Smith, Sr., and his wife Mary Harrison Smith lived in Baltimore. His son, Clater Webb Smith, Jr., and his wife Margaret Winifred Corrigan Smith lived in Frederick. Given the presumed date of the image, however, the former is more likely.
