General
"The St. Giles habitation was erected in the form of a cross-at least so it is believed-with an open porch in the front and an enclosed one in the back. The origin of St. Giles comes traditionally from that of a church near Coventry, standing in part of England from which many settlers emigrated to the section of the Eastern Shore surounding the plantation whereof we write. - From Forman, H. Chandlee. Old Buildings, Gardens and Furniture in Tidewater Maryland. 1967, p. 26-27."
