General

This is a photograph of a photo illustration (Figure 169) in H. Chandlee Forman's 1967 book, "Old Buildings, Gardens and Furniture in Tidewater Maryland," which includes both a main photo and an insert dating to 1932. The caption for Figure 169, facing page 211, reads" "West St. Mary's Manor is a Transitional example built probably between 1700 and 1730, with a conjecturally restored knot garden in appropriate style." It is not known when the main photo of the garden was taken, but the insert was taken by the author in 1932.
