General

The property was originally part of a 17th century, 700-acre British land grant. Beginning in 1702, and for over 200 years, it belonged to the Tilghman family, until it was sold to John Jakob and Helena Raskob in 1925. Later it became a retreat center for Russian diplomats deployed to the United States.
