General
The house dates to 1907 and was built for Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Bryan, replacing an earlier 18th century structure on the site that had fallen into disrepair. A 1953 Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage brochure erroneously lists Declaration of Independence signer William Paca as a one-time owner of Mount Pleasant. However, William B. Paca, his grandson, did own the property from 1834 to 1851.
