General
This garden complementing a contemporary western cedar ranch house overlooking the Navesink River featured a spring garden, swimming pool, grass patio, brick terrace, and an Italian garden with espaliered fruit trees. It was designed in part by the owner Jean Hurd (the property waas owned by the Hurd family from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s), and landscaped by Turner Brothers of Long Branch, New Jersey. It was highlighted by an unusual and effective use of color.
Persons and firms associated with the garden include: Richard M. Hurd, Jr., and Helen Ward Hurd (former owners, ca. 1954-1995); and Turner Brothers (nurserymen).
