Scope and Contents

Writings by J. Maurice Thomas include notes on Alma Thomas and Thomas family history. Her chronologies for her sister list Alma Thomas's achievements, solo and group exhibitions, the significance of events in which Thomas participated, works exhibited, and press coverage. Some of the notes appear to relate to contributions J. Maurice Thomas proposed for an biographical work on Alma Thomas by Valliere Auzene, which is referenced in Series 2: Letters. Research notes for a bibliography on James Weldon Johnson are also included here.

Existence and Location of Copies

The bulk of this series has been digitized. The index cards for J. Maurice Thomas's bibliography on J. Weldon Johnson have not been digitized as the information they contain appears to have been included in Thomas's notes on Johnson.
