    Description

    In addition to hundreds of metal tokens, Owney received some leather tags. This tag was produced by Alfred V. Friedrich. Friedrich owned a shoe store in Traverse City, Michigan and was named the town’s postmaster on March 1, 1891. Among the railway lines that passed through Traverse City during Owney’s lifetime were the Michigan Central, the Chicago & West Michigan and Grand Rapids & Indian railroads.
