    Object Details

    Description

The object is a blue and white plate with a shallow wall, horizontal rim, articulated foot and an unglazed foot rim. The design, in blue, depicts four bouquets around a central circle enclosing a single floral spray. The wall and rim are also decorated with floral motifs. The bouquets are expansive and cover the sidewall; floral nosegays decorate the wide rim. The design on the exterior is much more sparse, and is also composed of floral elements. The blue design is painted under the glaze and is likely cobalt oxide. The edge of the plate is unglazed with a red-brown band. There are wheel lines visible, particularly on the exterior rim.
