Description
This Railroad Engineers Issue stamp features a portrait of John Luther “Casey” Jones and trains from 1900 and 1950. Jones was a locomotive engineer that was involved in a train wreck near Vaughan, Mississippi. He died in the accident, but saved the lives of the passengers and crew by staying with his train and reducing the speed before collision. The stamp was issued to honor the Railroad Engineers of America.
